life had turned grim for the phils when they arrived at ebbets feild to play the brooklyn dodgers in their final regular season game in 1950. their 7 game lead was down to one when they put ace robin roberts on the mound. he held the dodgers to 1 run..with the help of ashburn nailing cal abrams at the plate sending the game into extra innings...it went into the tenth when sisler banged an opposite field 3 run home run....locking down the "wiz kids" first nl pennant in 35 years and a trip to the series(if you dont know there were no playoffs back then)....the best part....sisler only hit 55 home runs in an eight year career -

jimmy bought me a great book for christmas this year 101 reasons to love the phillies so i decided, because i love the phillies, ima radomly post some of these reasons over the course of the next year......cuz who knows maybe by november '09 we will have 102 reasons.....and for the guy who is gonna read this and say.....SPORTS....you can take a lesson from these guys, after work....they ACTUALLY SHOWER.....sasquatch -
